SPELING RIFORM AND ME

I am now—9/12/23—promoting a spelling system named “Jenusus.” I am nou—9/12/23—promoting a spelling system named “Jenusus”.
In 1981 I read about the UNIFON alphabet, which inspired me to look further. I couldn’t find anything at the library and put it off until I got my first computer, where I found UNIFON on the Internet. From there I found lots of other spelling systems—none of which I felt were worth the bother. I joined a group on the Internet called Saundspel. Because of changes to Yahoo Saundspel couldn’t function as it had been, so it folded. Nevertheless I was encouraged to look-within and discover what a spelling system would look like if I made the decisions. My first efforts were an embarrassment. But, as I spent more time with Saundspel, I began to see what seemed to work best—in my opinion—which was not shared by the other members. In 1981 I red ubout  the UNIFON alfubet, which inspierd me to lwk furthur. I cwdn’t fiend enything at the liebrery and pwt it off until I got mie furst cumpuetur, wher I found UNIFON on thy Inturnet. Frum ther I found lots uv vthur speling sistumz—nun uv which I felt wur wurth the bothur. I joind a groop on the Inturnet cauld Saundspel. Bicuaz uv chaenjuz to Yohoo, Saundspel cwdn’t funcshun az it had bin, so it foeldud. Nevurtheles I wuz encurijd to lwk-within and discuvur whot a speling sistum wwd lwk liek if I maed the disizhunz. Mie furst efurts wur an embarusmunt. But, az I spent mor tiem with Saundspel, I bigan to see whot seemd to wurk best—in mie upinyun—which wuz not sherd bie the vthur memburz.
Eventually I started this blog devoted to my efforts with spelling reform.  Iventuuly I startud this blog divoetud to mie efurts with speling riform.
At present this blog has very few followers. I expect because not many people are interested in the subject of spelling reform. On the other hand they may just dislike my take on it. At prezunt this blog haz very fue foloerz. I ekspect bicauz not meny peepul ar inturustud in the subjict uv speling riform. On dhe uthur hand thae mae just disliek mie taek on it.
I once read about the Korean spelling system—Hangul—which, as I recall, took over 200 years from inception to acceptance. But they didn’t have the Internet. I wuns red ubout the Cureun speling sistum—Hangul—which, az I ricaul, twk oevur 200 yirz frum insepshun to acseptuns. But thae didn’t hav the Inturnet.
If anyone is encouraged by this blog, I suggest you consider starting a blog like this yourself. I’m an old man and when I leave, I fear my work will lose almost all influence. If you would like to help provide an easy to learn, to read and write, spelling system for English—I suggest you don’t wait for ‘George’ to do it. When I began, my only interest was curiosity. We have the Internet now. It is amazing how much time this thing saves. In my case, I was retired when I began working on spelling systems—lots of time. But you could say ‘I got the bug’ in 1981, which was about 20 years before I took up spelling reform in earnest. If enywun iz encurijd bie this blog, I sugjest yoo cunsidur starting a blog liek this yorself. I’m an oeld man and when I leev, I fir mie wurk wil looz aulmoest aul infloo.uns. If yoo wwd liek to  help pruvied an eezy to lurn, to reed and riet, speling sistum for Inglish—I sugjest yoo doent waet for “Jorj to do it. When I bigan, mie oenly inturust wuz cywreosuty. We hav the Inturnet nou. It iz umaezing hou much tiem this thing saevz. In mie caes, I wuz ritierd when I bigan wurking on speling sistumz—lots uv tiem. But yoo cwd sae Ie ‘got the bug’ in 1981, which wyz ubout 20 yirz bifor I twk up speling riform in urnust.

About Paul Stought

This blog will only be about spelling reform, Jenusus, Zefur and Mentur. I am a retired machinist. I have been studying spelling reform since about 2000. I had decided Zefur or Mentur is what I would like to see as a user-friendly spelling system for English. Since then, I have 'improved' Zefur slightly for a 'better' appearance, and I now think Jenusus is better. Spelling reformers in general have widely differing views on the subject.
